In His Grip

A Daily Devotional based on incidents and experiences from current and former members of law enforcement and first responders.
"In His Grip is a must read for all law enforcement officers and their families. Jesus used things familiar to His hearers to drive home important spiritual truths that are critical for everyday living and Bob Gerken does the same with this devotional. Bob takes us from a moment on the job to a biblical principle that challenges and encourages in a day when law enforcement has become harder and more dangerous than ever. Family members and friends of officers will learn what it means to put on the uniform and the desperate need for all of us to be prayer warriors for and encouragers of these "Ministers of God" who keep the rest of us safe. I plan to give this devotional to my sons, their wives, and each officer in our church and community." Reverend Carl Fisher Jr. Pastor, and father of three police officers.
As either someone in law enforcement or someone who just wants a closer walk with the Lord, you cannot read these devotionals without experiencing how God has truly worked in Bob Gerken's life. This book will inspire you and give you hope, that you, too can have a stronger relationship with God and peace in your daily challenges. Melanie Himmelberger MA., L.P.A.
"Pennsylvania State Police Retired Corporal Bob Gerken has hit a home run with this inspirational daily devotional for the benefit of not the only police officer but also people in all professions. I wish it had been available when I was "on the job" Lieutenant Colonel Rick Periandi, Pennsylvania State Police, Retired.
Deeper in His Grip
A Weekly Devotional based on law enforcement and first responder's experiences that takes readers steps further into the Word and builds upon the principals discussed in "In His Grip."
In His Grip was one of the most outstanding daily devotionals I have ever read. I am a brother cop, and Bob's uncanny ability to interface police happenings with scriptural references made the writing ever so poignant. It brought back to my remembrances police events where I witnessed the power of God, up close, and personal. My wife and I loved In His Grip, as it became a part of our daily Bible studies. Now Bob and his lovely wife, Joanne, (editor in Chief), have collaborated on a second book, Deeper in His Grip. I have read excerpts from the new book, and it continues where In His Grip left off. This is a weekly devotional that will bring you even closer to God and His Son, Jesus Christ In these days of uncertainty, Deeper in His Grip will illustrate once again that God is still on His throne and that you will know-- with certainty-- the end game. Deeper in His Grip is a book you will want in your devotional library and one you will frequently reach for. God's blessings to Joanne and Bob for bringing to life human events that are woven into the fabric of our God and His Kingdom.

Why?
These devotionals are based on the personal experiences of the author who served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for twenty-five years, as well as the experiences of others in law enforcement and 1st responders both current and in the past. These books are not specific to one Christian denomination; rather they encourages all to develop and strengthen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Although those on the job have chosen this field for a number of reasons, what is most evident about these men and women is that they devote their lives to serving others, "fixing" those things, protecting the communities they serve, and helping to better the lives of those they come in contact. At times, their jobs appear to be thankless, especially in today's society where so many are critical of the efforts being made by those, who without hesitation, run into danger.
